Solving the High-Current Problem
When current exceeds 30-40A, 2 oz copper becomes insufficient. Traces must be extremely wide, consuming board space. Multiple layers of copper are needed. Boyastar offers 4 Oz Copper PCBs for these high-current applications.
Current density increases rapidly. A 4 oz board carries four times the current of a standard 1 oz board for the same trace width. This allows much narrower power traces, freeing space for other components. Our 4 Oz Copper PCBs use optimized plating parameters to achieve uniform copper distribution. Etching is carefully controlled to maintain line accuracy. The result is a board that handles high current without requiring excessive trace widths.
Where is 4 oz used? Electric vehicle battery management systems, solar inverters, welding equipment, and large motor drives all benefit from 4 oz copper. These applications often run at 50-100A. Our boards support these currents with manageable trace widths. We use high-Tg material to handle the heat generated by high current. Each board is 100% tested.
